Brand Identity and Packaging Design
‘Little Sumo’ is a boutique gin brand crafted in Cape Town, South Africa. The idea was to create a brand that stood out against the flooded South African gin market that tends to have a ‘hipster’, craft and vintage design slant.
Little Sumo needed to fight for attention on the crowded shelf while maintaining a strong brand identity across numerous potential variants.
This project was originally designed for a client, but later cancelled.
The Keynote brand needed a fresh, cohesive identity that would unify its diverse product range and stand out on the shelf.
The product lineup spans adult and teen vitamin supplements, as well as specialised items like colic drops and bum cream aimed at moms.
The goal was to create a design that clearly communicated the concept of a product family, while also distinguishing between offerings.
To symbolize strength and resilience, all supplements products have been packaged in hexagonal boxes – one of nature’s most durable shapes. This design choice underscores the products’ core purpose: to support and strengthen the human body and immune system.
The hexagonal motif is further integrated into various design elements throughout the packaging, reinforcing the brand’s message. Additionally, the hexagonal design stacks beautifully, creating a unique and eye-catching presence on the shelf that immediately draws attention.
